Looking for fun along the Ohio River??? Try a road trip down historic and scenic Route 52 and drive onto the Augusta Ferry (about 20 minutes east past New Richmond on the Ohio)at Higginsport, Ohio. The ferry will shuttle you (in or out of your car) across the Ohio River to the Kentucky river town of Augusta. Stop by our favorite place, the Augusta Pub or visit the home of Rosemary Clooney. Not sure whether the BeeHive Tavern is opening again, but that's worth a visit too!! We will update you once we know more.While ferries are more the norm in places like Seattle, they are not common here; although certainly historic. The Augusta Ferry has operated since the late 1700's and, at least from our perspective, that's along time ago!!
